Our History

Enhancing sex-positive attitudes and sexual well-being since 1972.

The Horea family started the Stag Shop business at 7 King Street in Waterloo, Ontario in 1972 under the name "Stag Novelties' Books". Stag Shop's first location offered a diverse range of gag gifts, novelties and mild sexual aids. The first Stag Shop location also built a reputation for carrying a wide range of beautiful Halloween costumes. In fact, crowds of customers would line up to get a peek at the store's new costume offerings during the Halloween season. While the Stag Shop still maintains its reputation for carrying a bevy of Halloween costumes, they are now known for carrying so much more!

The Stag Shop has made phenomenal leaps since the Horeas first started growing their business and branding the Stag Shop name in Waterloo, Ontario. The next generation of Horeas have worked aggressively to continue the Stag Shop legacy and grow the Stag Shop brand. With its family origins, the Stag Shop maintains that integral family approach in its daily operations.

The public taboos against sexy novelties made progress difficult for the Horea family when they first began, but they persisted in their belief that sexy meant fun. Through their determined effort, the Horeas created an environment that is pleasant and tasteful.

Today, the Horea family have built an empire of adult fun stores and continue to offer a comfortable and convenient shopping experience for both men and women.

Growing The Stag Shop Brand

The Stag Shop brand has grown tremendously to twenty two stores across Southwestern Ontario and an impressive online business that sells Stag Shop products internationally.

Stag Shop Headquarters

In 2005 the company's Headquarters and warehouse relocated to a 50,000 square foot facility. All twenty two store locations and the company's online shopping business are managed from this facility.

Stag Shop's executive team work together to develop new ways to improve customer service, educate the Stag Shop staff and implement marketing campaigns to improve service to Stag Shop customers.


The Stag Shop Team

Paige Horea - Vice President
In her role, Paige Horea serves as the Stag Shop's Vice President and executes all areas of operations of sales and customer service. She has been instrumental in establishing performance benchmarks for the store personnel. Offering guidance and strategic planning initiatives to the Stag Shop team, Paige brings with her several years of experience in managerial business and human resource practices and procedures.

Marcus Horea - Vice President
Marcus Horea has worked aggressively to market the Stag Shop across Southwestern Ontario and will continue to grow the number of stores. With his focus on business development and marketing, Marcus has developed strong partnerships with well-known brands in the adult industry to offer the very best products to Stag Shop customers. His expertise in marketing strategies and diligence in branding the Stag Shop name has made it a stronghold in the adult retail industry.

Erin Horea - General Manager
In her role as Stag Shop's General Manager, Erin Horea manages all twenty two Stag Shop locations. She brings with her extensive experience in the area of management. She has been instrumental in ensuring that store leadership and training are current and that all Stag Shop staff are product knowledgeable and create a friendly shopping environment for Stag Shop customers. Erin works with the store management enthusiastically to create in-store contests, promotions and other incentives.

Katrina - Operations Coordinator
As Operations Coordinator, Katrina Voorn manages several key areas of operations including the execution of store and staff procedures, POS management, merchandising strategies and develops store policies. Katrina plays an integral role in the day-to-day operations of Stag Shop's stores and its Headquarters. She brings with her several years of experience in retail at the store level and offers direction to the entire Stag Shop team.

Stag Shop's strength lies in its dedicated and enthusiastic Management Team.

Stag Shop's Area Managers over-see all areas of store operations within their respective areas. They execute customer relations, educate staff and ensure the overall satisfaction of Stag Shop customers via customer service, effective merchandising and offering motivation to their team members.

Our Store Managers help to educate staff, develop merchandising strategies and help to ensure a comfortable shopping experience for Stag Shop customers. With their focus on enhancing staff product knowledge, Stag Shop's Store Managers effectively develop client relationships and cultivate Stag Shop's sales team.
