Over on our Instagram account, we asked YOU - our followers and customers - to share with us who or what was the source of your sex education growing up. Here are the fun (and interesting!) results.

There’s a whole multitude of ways that we could have learned about sex growing up and there are things that could have impacted your sex education like culture, religion, media, etc.

TV Shows/Movies - 50%

Just about half of you said that you mainly learned about sex from TV, and of that 50%, 25% specifically mentioned the show Sex With Sue. Shoutout to one of the best and baddest OG sex educators!

Some other honourable mentions included Showcase’s “Friday nights without borders” and late-night movies.

Books - 20%

Calling all readers! The next biggest response came from books, with one called It’s So Amazing coming up more than once.

Friends/Peers - 16%

Some of you said that this was because your parents wouldn’t talk about it, so you went to friends and peers instead.

Family - 13%

Specifically, Moms and Aunts were mentioned most frequently!

Internet - 1%

It will be interesting to see how this changes over time though, as we have a suspicion that many of you are millennials or older and that the internet wasn’t really a thing yet when you were likely seeking out your sex education.

With the internet being all-empowering in this day and age, how will the newer and younger generations receive their sex education?
