**Blowjob in this post refers to oral stimulation of the penis. However, blowjobs can and are encouraged to be performed on what & whoever one consents to give a BJ to!**
Blowjobs; also known as bj’s, giving head, sucking dick, etc. is the sexual act of using one’s mouth to stimulate and pleasure a penis. The proper term is fellatio and it can be performed by anyone and on any type of “dick” (strap-ons, etc. included!) Whether you’re new to BJ’s or are here to up your oral sex game, this ultimate Blowjob Basics Guide is here to help!
Anatomy
Firstly, to give the perfect blow job, you have to know the in and out of a penis (pun intended) and which sweet spots you will definitely want to hit!
Similar to the beloved clitoris, the head of the penis (called the Glans) carries the majority of the penis’ nerve endings, making it WAY more sensitive than the rest of it. In fact, it is the same embryonic cells that become either a clitoris or the Glans in utero.
Surrounding the Glans is the “Helmet” also called the Corona (yes like the beer!) Directly under the Corona, on the underside of the penis is an area called the Frenulum, which is another little bundle of nerve endings that should definitely be paid attention to! In between the testicles and the anus is a little patch of skin called the Perineum which is a male erogenous zone because underneath it lies the root of the penis.
Let’s talk Foreskin; many penises do not have Foreskin due to religious and cultural reasons, but it is making a comeback! If you’ve never experienced a penis that had a foreskin before, here’s some info:
- It will naturally pull back to expose the tip of the penis when erect – so don’t worry about that.
- If a penis still has the foreskin, in addition to the Glans, the foreskin also carries a lot of nerve endings – making it super sensitive!
- There’s a misconception about foreskin being dirty or unsanitary– but that is wrong! Just like any other part on the body, if you wash it regularly, there is nothing to worry about. Mama always reminded you to clean behind your ears, so just make sure to clean behind and around the foreskin too!
Tips & Tricks
Now that you have a basic understanding of the anatomy of a penis and what will feel the best, here are some things you can try to stimulate those fun zones!
- Definitely spend a lot of your tongue time on the tip of the penis (Glans). Because it carries the majority of the nerve endings, your partner will get the most stimulation from that area.
- Try swirling your tongue around the tip as if it were an ice cream cone.
- You know that infamous Alphabet game for vulvas? Well, guess what? You can use it on the penis too! If you don’t really know what you should be doing with your tongue, try to write out the letters of the alphabet on the tip of the penis.
- Be sure to also use your tongue to stimulate the Frenulum – the area underneath the penis right below the Corona. While swirling your tongue, just make sure to get in a few laps underneath the head too!
- Don’t forget the balls! This would be an ideal time to stimulate the testicles as well and ease into any Perineum stuff. Massage them back and forth in your hand or try gently pulling them down or “tugging” on them a bit – but remember to be gentle, the testicles are a super sensitive area.
- While you’re doing your thing, reach up and stimulate the Perineum by gently pressing a finger onto it. For the Perineum, pressure is better than light laps from a tongue. Touching, pressing, stroking, and licking this area is all very enjoyable, although you may find that you need to press quite hard so that the root of the penis buried underneath is being stimulated, otherwise it will just be the skin surface that benefits from your skills?
Watch your partner to see how they react; if they’ve never explored that area, it may be a total shock! You can apply more or less pressure to the Perineum depending on how they enjoy it.
Specifics Aside, here are a few general BJ tips to get you on your A-Game.
Avoid teeth. Some penis owners may like a little naughty nibble here and there, but for the most part, teeth just hurt. Try using your lips as a shield by curling them inwards (similar movement to when you put on lipstick).
Use your hands. Just because it’s called “oral” sex, doesn’t mean you only have to use your mouth! Use your hands to stroke the penis while it’s in your mouth – they will get a more fulfilling feeling as the whole penis is being stimulated at the same time. You can also use your hands to feel your partner’s body up and down, and play with the testicles and other erogenous zones too.
Try A Stroker. You can use a Stroker or Pocket Pussy to do the work for you. Simply lube it up and it’s ready to go. Most Strokers are textured on the inside which makes them even more stimulating than your hands.
Hum or moan while it’s in your mouth. Humming or moaning on the penis creates a natural vibration-like sensation. The vibrations from your lips transfer onto the penis turning your ordinary BJ into an extraordinary one!
Switch up your technique. If you’re doing the same thing for the whole BJ, chances are you both may get bored. Switch it up a little by trying new moves and techniques. Is your tongue tired from all that swirling? Suck instead. Pretend the penis is a Popsicle and suck it like one. By keeping your lips locked around it without airflow, it will create a suction effect in your mouth, pulling it in deeper and with more force.
Extras. To make things more fun (and sometimes yummier) for you as the giver, try adding things such as; a flavoured lubricant, BJ Blast Candy (very similar to Pop Rocks but smaller and not as sharp), an ice cube, a vibrating tongue ring, etc. There are also different sprays and gels that make you salivate more (hello wetter mouth), throat relaxing sprays to tackle gag reflexes, and an endless amount of differently flavoured gels, sprays, and lubes. You can check all of those out here!
